Answers to some of the questions I am most frequently asked.

Since October 2022.

We bought it via Lloyds Auctions in Western Australia.

It was shipped to us in a covered truck for protection, and we took delivery on 21 Dec 2022.

It is a 1974 HQ Statesman DeVille.

Definitely not.

We’ve put a lot of time and effort into this car.

And it’s impossible to find one in such original condition.

Sunburst Gold metallic.

Well, at the time of purchase, the Odometer showed 63,657 km.

Now that could mean 63,657 km, 163,657 km, or even 263,657 km, we just don’t know.

But given that the engine runs so well, and has so little “noise” in terms of things like Tappet noise, we’re thinking it’s actually correct at 63,657 km, or at worst 163,657 km.

However, this is just speculation because we really don’t know.

At the time of writing this (21 Mar 2026), the Odometer shows 68,903 km, meaning we have added 5,246 km.

Nope. They are all the original badges.

I’ve repainted them which is why they look like new.

You can read about what paint and method was used on the “Painting the Badges” page.

I used “Wolfchester Laquer Spray – Black Satin” in a spray can.

It was purchased on EBay.

You can see the details about it, and other paints I have used, on the “Paint” page.

Mostly. Apart from where there have been repairs undertaken. You can see that there have been rust and accident damage repairs that have been done.

No it isn’t. A previous owner has replaced the vinyl roof. The original vinyl roof was a brown colour, the same colour as the body protection strips.

That is best answered by reading the page I have created specifically regarding this.

You can read it here.
