Some would describe this car as a “Survivor Car”. It was originally built at the GMH Pagewood Sydney plant, with the build being completed on 28 May 1974.

The original selling Dealership was Gary & Warren Smith in Oakleigh VIC 3166, and the car was sold to Mr Arthur J. Amato of Scoresby, VIC 3179 with the Registration Number (VIC) LWH-848.

After staying in the same family for approximately 42yrs (we think), the car was subsequently purchased by Christine L. Morgan of South Lake, WA 6164, and had the Registration Number of (WA) 1HPF602. It was purchased as a surprise 21st birthday present for her son, but he wasn’t interested, and the car pretty much sat in a shed for the next 6 years with only around 700km being added to the speedometer over that time.

We believe that we are the third owners, and we purchased the car from Lloyds Auctions on 30 Oct 2022. It was shipped to us from WA, and we took delivery on 21 Dec 2022.

This car has the original Matching Numbers 308ci motor and 3 speed Trimatic automatic transmission, and has factory fitted integrated air-conditioning, and has the original Upholstery, Carpets, and Door/Boot Seals. Where possible (and without going overboard), anything that wasn’t original has been reinstated. A “period correct” reproduction Registration Label has been affixed to the windscreen that has the correct Engine Number and Dates, and there is a reproduction Dealer Decal (again period correct), affixed to the rear Window. In the Engine Bay, a “period correct” reproduction Heater Valve/Tap has been fitted, as well as Battery Cables with the original “Spring Clip” terminals, and Choke Pipes and a Choke Pipe insulating sleeve that would have been present from the factory. It even has an original “Olypmic G.T Radial” Cross Ply Spare Tyre.

An interesting part of the history of this car is that when it was located in WA, it appeared in a TV Commercial for RAC Insurance, and can be seen below.
